Cecil Roberts

Cecil Edric Mornington Roberts [1892-1976] was an English journalist, poet, dramatist and novelist. Roberts worked as a journalist on the Liverpool Post during World War I, first as literary editor and then as a war correspondent. From 1920 for five years he edited the Nottingham Journal. In 1922 he stood for Parliament for the Liberal Party. During World War II Roberts worked for Lord Halifax, who was British Ambassador to the United States. In 1912 he won the Kirke White memorial prize with a poem entitled ‘To The Trent’.
